My parents were so generous in supporting my love of showing that they said my show schedule could remain the same if I learned to braid my own pony. Not only did it save them some money\, but it taught me what it means to work hard\, have independence\, and prioritize wants and needs. If I wanted to show I needed to braid my own pony. 15 years of braiding my own horses and 8 years of professionally doing so on the side I am so thankful to my parents for pushing me to learn. Her parents were not horse people and were mystified by her fascination with them. She spent her teenage years working at a series of dressage and eventing barns where she learned about many aspects of horsemanship. She continued to ride while attending Cornell University where she majored in biology and met her husband. \n\n\n\nAfter moving to her farm in Pennsylvania in 1991\, Katie acquired several horses who had physical and behavioral issues. She wanted to help them and dived deep into learning more about behavioral science (clicker training and classical conditioning)\, hoof trimming\, biomechanics\, Masterson Method\, Feldenkrais\, and Debono moves.  \n\n\n\nThe more she learned\, the more she realized the importance of addressing both the physical and emotional well being of each horse and how important it was to look at any “training problem” from a number of different angles in order to be able to help the horse make progress. She enjoys the challenge and creativity required to address each horse’s individual issues. \n\n\n\nKatie works with clients in person in Southeastern Pa (around Elverson\, Pa). She also offers virtual sessions if the topic is appropriate for that type of learning environment. She holds a dual bachelor’s degree from DeSales University in Human Resources Management and Management of Information Technology. Mary is a graduate of the NCC Leadership Lehigh Valley program (class of 2015). It is a kind\, clear\, and classical training method. Long lining is equally valuable for the rider to watch and understand the struggles of the horse and conceive how horses can improve with repetition and the correct exercises. The horses usually feel GREAT the ride after a long lining session. \n\n\n\nAbout Jennifer Hoffman:  Jennifer Hoffman is a professional long liner who learned this art from Richard Malmgren a decade ago. Prior to that\, Jenn worked with Jessica Jo Tate\, a highly sought-after Grand Prix dressage clinician and world class trainer. Jenn combines these training experiences with a career of working with many types of horses\, a degree in Western Equestrian Studies from  the University of Findlay\, her experience in the role of Assistant Trainer for a Gold Medalist in the WEG reining discipline\, and her history of riding multiple Grand Prix dressage horses to guide her as she figures out the puzzle of bringing out the best in each horse she works with.

Come and practice your test (the rings are set up!)\, get the lay of the land\, see the showgrounds from the riders’ point of view!OVCTA is offering the opportunity to ride at Ludwig’s Corner show grounds the day before the Recognized show. The arenas will be set up for the show.  You are also welcome to school in the warm up ring or lunge in the lunge ring.
